Air Canada Seeks Service to Ho Chi Minh City Under New Agreement

Air Canada has announced its intention to launch scheduled service to Ho Chi Minh City under a newly expanded air transport agreement between Canada and Vietnam.

The agreement reflects the strong relationship between the two countries and aims to strengthen commercial and cultural ties through increased air connectivity.

The announcement follows a state visit by Vietnam's General Secretary and President, Tô Lâm, and a meeting in Ottawa between officials from both nations.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada's Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated the company welcomes the agreement and is working to secure necessary approvals for service in 2027.

Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, emphasized the agreement's role in enhancing trade and travel between Canada and Vietnam, with exports to Vietnam reaching over $1.3 billion in 2025.

The Canada-ASEAN Business Council also expressed support for the planned service, highlighting its potential to strengthen commercial ties and support tourism and investment.
