The Brief

  • Duck Park, 66, identified as victim of fatal crash.
  • Shannon Theodore, 36, charged with vehicular manslaughter.
  • Nathaly Costa, 21, charged with driving while intoxicated.

Authorities have identified the 66-year-old motorist killed in a wrong-way crash on Staten Island’s West Shore Expressway on Saturday morning. Duck Park, of Todt Hill, was driving a Kia Seltos when her vehicle collided head-on with a Range Rover at approximately 5:35 a.m., according to an NYPD spokesperson.

Park died at the scene, police said. The Range Rover motorist, Shannon Theodore, 36, of Somerset, N.J., has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after police said she was traveling northbound on the expressway’s southbound lane.

Theodore was also charged with allegedly driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test. Following the initial collision, a southbound 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Nathaly Costa, 21, of Sayreville, N.J., allegedly struck the Range Rover and Kia Seltos, police said.

Costa was also charged with driving while intoxicated, authorities said, and was arrested. Costa’s vehicle was occupied by two additional passengers, a 21-year-old female and a 22-year-old male.

Three hours after the crash, the Jeep and Range Rover were in the left lane, near the shoulder of the roadway. Both vehicles sustained serious front-end damage, the Advance/SILive.com reported. The Kia came to rest on the far right side of the roadway, against a guardrail along the ramp for South Avenue exit.

The two charged drivers were taken by EMS to Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, in stable condition.
