Ukraine Details Russian Energy Attack Plans

Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, stated in a television interview that intelligence services have identified detailed Russian plans for attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector.

The intelligence includes specific information on the types of weaponry, including ballistic missiles, drones, and conventional arms, that Russia intends to use to target energy infrastructure.

Shmyhal said Ukraine is preparing its infrastructure for the winter, taking into account the identified attack plans and the potential damage they could cause.

Ukraine has already constructed over 200 protective structures around priority energy facilities and is stockpiling equipment to enable quick repairs after any strikes.

The minister also highlighted that more than 40 countries have joined the Energy Ramstein initiative, and over $2.1 billion has been raised for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund since 2022.

This year alone, partners have contributed $545 million, with an additional €305 million in confirmed commitments, totaling over 33,000 tons of essential energy equipment delivered to Ukraine.
