South Africa Defeats Australia by 67 Runs in ODI

In the first One Day International of a three-match series, South Africa defeated Australia by 67 runs at Kingsmead in Durban. The hosts batted first and reached 297 for eight in their 50 overs.

Matthew Breetzke played a crucial role, scoring 112 off 106 balls. He shared a 54-run partnership with captain Temba Bavuma and later contributed a 107-run sixth-wicket stand with Marco Jansen, who scored 75 off 59 balls.

South Africa faced early struggles, losing two wickets for 29 runs in the first eight overs. However, Breetzke steadied the innings and helped the team recover. Jansen provided a late surge, finishing with a rapid 75.

Australia responded with a strong start, as captain Mitchell Marsh scored 60 off 36 balls in a 90-run partnership with Travis Head. However, South Africa's spinners took control, with Keshav Maharaj taking four wickets for 20 runs in 9.2 overs.

Maharaj dismissed Marsh and finished with an outstanding four-wicket haul. Bjorn Fortuin and Corbin Bosch each took two wickets. Australia's chase collapsed, with the team losing their final nine wickets for 101 runs.

Australia was bowled out for 230 in 41.2 overs, giving South Africa a 1-0 lead in the series. The second ODI is scheduled for Johannesburg on Sunday.
