The Brief
- A projectile struck a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
- Saturday's strike killed at least 12 people, including a U.S. citizen, and wounded hundreds.
- Houthis threatened new attacks on Saudi airports, warning passengers not to travel.
Yemen's Houthis issued a new threat to Saudi Arabia's airspace after an attack on the kingdom's international airport in Riyadh killed at least 12 people, including a U.S. citizen, and wounded hundreds.
Hours after the deadly strike, a Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthis in Yemen reported a projectile hit a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport.
The airport remains closed, and Saudi Arabia moved Riyadh schools online amid the Houthis' latest threat. Flights were diverted, according to Flightradar24, and several countries warned citizens to avoid the airport.
Houthis did not immediately claim Saturday's strike but threatened new attacks on Saudi airports, except for the holy sites of Mecca and Medina. They urged passengers to take their warnings seriously.
The Houthis claimed an attack on their controlled airport in Sanaa on Sunday, blaming the Saudis but providing no details.
The attack on Riyadh's airport drew condemnation from the United Nations and world leaders, including President Trump, who said he was considering joining Saudi strikes on the Houthis.
The Saudi statement listed the dead as four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals, a Palestinian, a U.S. citizen, an Egyptian, a Jordanian, a Syrian, and a Sudanese. Several hospitals were treating 309 injured, some in serious condition.
