The Brief

  • Rijiju claims Congress used AI to show full crowds at Ramlila Grounds rally.
  • Image shared by Congress MP Vamsi Gaddam and others was flagged as AI-generated.
  • BJP alleges rally attendance was significantly lower than claimed.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the Congress for using an AI-generated image to depict full crowds at the Raml, ila Grounds rally. He attached the image, which was posted by Congress MP Vamsi Gaddam, and accused the party of failing to properly create the fake narrative.

The image, also shared by former MP Jagdish Thakor, was identified as AI-generated by users on social media. It depicted Rahul and Sonia Gandhi on the rally stage, which appeared different from the actual stage at the venue.

The BJP called the rally a 'flop show,' claiming the crowd was far less than the Opposition had claimed. Party leaders posted images and videos showing empty chairs and argued that at least 40% of the ground was unoccupied.

Congress had previously claimed 10 lakh people would attend the rally. Party MP Sambit Patra said the crowd shown was 'trick photography' and that such tactics 'don't make one Prime Minister,' taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi.

To counter the BJP's claims, Congress shared drone footage and images from the rally venue to support their attendance figures. During the rally, Gandhi accused CEC Gyanesh Kumar of vote theft, calling it 'treason' and linking it to the rise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Patra dismissed the allegations as baseless, stating that claims about illegal polls 'don't happen from Ramlila grounds.' He challenged the opposition to provide legal evidence to support their claims.
