Norris leads Brazil F1 practice session
Lando Norris tops first practice session at Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Brief
- Norris set fastest time, edging out Kimi Antonelli.
- McLaren introduced new aerodynamic upgrades to Brazil, including new front and rear wings, modified floor furniture, and a beam wing.
- Herta completed his F1 superlicence requirements.
Lando Norris secured the fastest time in the first practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix, finishing 0.082 seconds ahead of Kimi Antonelli.
McLaren was the only team to bring aerodynamic upgrades to Brazil, including new front and rear wings, modified floor furniture, and a beam wing.
Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who complained of "unacceptable downshifts", and Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) made it four different teams in the top four, all within just over three tenths of a second of the leader.
Gabriele Mini was the fastest of the six FP1-only rookies in seventh place for Alpine in his second successive FP1 outing, 0.852s off the pace and just under a tenth ahead of regular driver Franco Colapinto, who was ninth.
Colton Herta completed his F1 superlicence requirements, earning the final point needed after surpassing the 100-kilometre running threshold.
Herta's progress was delayed after an error in Cadillac's FIA-verified calculations in Mexico, requiring an additional FP1 session in Brazil.
Rafael Camara finished his first FP1 session in 18th place, eight and a half tenths behind Ollie Bearman, as he builds up slowly to his unexpected grand prix debut this weekend - replacing Esteban Ocon.
