New Evidence Suggests Hitler May Have Killed His Niece

Geli Raubal, Hitler's 23-year-old niece, was found shot dead in his Munich apartment on September 19, 1931. Hitler's own gun was present at the scene, but the death was initially classified as a suicide due to his absence in Nuremberg at the time.

German historian Harald Sandner claims newly uncovered records indicate Raubal's body was discovered one day earlier than previously recorded. According to Sandner, the body was already in the apartment on Sept. 18, suggesting the time of death occurred earlier that day or the night before.

Sandner argues that the discrepancy in the discovery date undermines the official suicide ruling. He states that if the body was already present on Sept. 18, the actual time of death must have occurred significantly earlier, casting doubt on the original timeline.

Hitler reportedly had both the motive and means for the act. The pair had a documented argument prior to Raubal's death, and speculation about an incestuous relationship between the two has persisted. If Hitler was responsible, Raubal would be the only known person he is believed to have killed personally.

However, other historians, including Guy Walters, dispute Sandner's findings. Walters and Heike B. Görtemaker suggest the discrepancy may result from a simple transcription error. Walters also questions the existence of a sexual relationship between Hitler and Raubal, stating his own view is that they were not sleeping together.
