Namibia secured their first-ever bilateral One-Day International (ODI) series victory on November 1, defeating Ireland by five wickets in Windhoek. The win marked Namibia's first series triumph against a Full Member nation.
After losing the opening match by 55 runs, Namibia rebounded with victories in the second and third ODIs, taking a 2-1 series lead. Ireland responded with a 130-run win in the fourth match, leveling the series at 2-2 and forcing a decider.
Ireland won the toss and chose to bat first, but their innings collapsed against a disciplined Namibian bowling attack. They were all out for 129 in 33.1 overs, with Jordan Neill scoring 33 and Cade Carmichael contributing 27.
JJ Smit and Jack Brassell were instrumental in the collapse, with Smit taking 4 wickets for 20 and Brassell claiming 3 for 15. Smit dismissed three Irish batters in a four-ball burst, including Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, and George Dockrell.
Namibia chased the target with ease, reaching 131 for five in 21.2 overs. Louren Steenkamp scored 46, Gerhard Erasmus added 30, and Michael van Lingen contributed 15. Zane Green ended the innings unbeaten on 11, hitting a six to seal the win.
Smit was named Player of the Match, while Erasmus received the Player of the Series award for his 263 runs and four wickets in the series. The result marks a significant milestone for Namibia in international cricket.
