Ivanka Trump's Morocco trip cost taxpayers $100,000
Secret Service expenses for Ivanka Trump's luxury trip to Morocco totaled at least $100,000.
The Brief
- Federal records show Secret Service spent $93,000 on hotel stays for Ivanka Trump's security team in Morocco.
- The trip coincided with Ivanka's 45th birthday and occurred days before the midterm elections.
- Ivanka and her husband have a combined net worth of over $1 billion.
Federal procurement records obtained by the Daily Mail show that Secret Service agents assigned to protect Ivanka Trump spent $93,000 on hotel stays in Marrakech ahead of her trip.
The records include a $59,543 contract for hotel rooms at the Sofitel in Marrakech for a Secret Service advance team and a $33,457 contract for a team at La Mamounia, a luxury hotel.
Neither record specifically named Ivanka Trump as the reason for the expenditures, but she is the only person receiving Secret Service protection known to be in Morocco during that period.
The combined $93,000 hotel bill does not include agents’ salaries, flights, meals or local transportation. A spokesperson for Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.
Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, have a combined net worth of more than $1 billion, according to Forbes. This includes Kushner’s private equity firm, Affinity Partners, and his family’s real estate firm, Kushner Companies.
Kushner, who has no formal role in Trump’s government, continues to act as a top diplomatic envoy for his father-in-law, handling matters related to Iran and Ukraine.
