Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to visit Egypt next week, accompanied by a significant business delegation. The visit aims to explore investment and collaboration opportunities in various sectors.
The delegation will engage with Egyptian officials, including ministers, and is expected to include a call with the Egyptian president. An India-Egypt Startup Summit is also planned during the visit.
Egypt, a key player in the Arab world, is seeking Indian investments and expertise in areas such as startups, fintech, pharmaceuticals, and automobile components. The country is also interested in infrastructure development.
India's strategic focus includes expanding its partnerships in West Asia beyond the Gulf region. The visit is part of a broader effort to deepen ties with Egypt and other regional countries.
Plans are in place for the Egyptian Defence Minister to visit Delhi and for External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to travel to Cairo in the coming months to strengthen the India-Egypt strategic partnership.
Egypt has several free trade agreements across Africa, the Gulf, and Southern Europe, which it is leveraging to position itself as a gateway for Indian exports to these regions.
