A 43-year-old man died after being struck by a pickup truck on a highway in Gujarat, initially reported as a hit-and-run incident.
Surat Rural Police later identified the case as an alleged contract killing, with the victim's death linked to a planned murder.
Abdulrehman Shaikh, 42, and Soyeb Ghanchi, 35, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing.
The victim, Sajid Pirmahammad Qureshi, was reportedly lured to the location on the promise of money and killed after being struck by a pickup truck.
Police claim Shaikh, based in Johannesburg, hired Ghanchi to eliminate the victim to pursue a relationship with his wife.
Investigators found that Shaikh coordinated the operation from South Africa, tracking the victim's movements and passing the location to Ghanchi.
