Cambodia petrol prices rise, diesel drops slightly
Cambodia's retail petrol prices climbed while diesel prices eased slightly in the latest update.
The Brief
- Regular petrol prices increased by 3.8% to 5,350 riels per litre.
- Diesel prices fell by 1.7% to 5,550 riels per litre.
- Fuel costs have risen by 38.9% and 44% since late February.
Retail petrol prices in Cambodia rose on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Commerce, as diesel prices saw a slight decline.
From October 11 to 21, regular petrol will cost 5,350 riels per litre, up from 5,150 riels during the prior 10-day period. Diesel prices dropped to 5,550 riels per litre, down from 5,650 riels.
The Ministry of Commerce reported that fuel prices have increased by 38.9% for regular petrol and 44% for diesel since late February, driven by the West Asia conflict.
Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that nearly US$500 million in subsidies has been allocated to mitigate the economic impact of rising fuel costs and stabilise electricity prices.
The government stated that these subsidies will remain active as long as global fuel markets remain at elevated levels.
Cambodia depends entirely on imported petroleum and diesel, as its offshore oil reserves remain unexploited.
