WWE Moves Crown Jewel to New Venue in Saudi Arabia
WWE confirms relocation of its Crown Jewel event to a new venue in Saudi Arabia amid ongoing safety concerns.
The Brief
- Crown Jewel event will now take place at The Venue at ANB Arena.
- WWE has not publicly commented on the venue change.
- Safety concerns persist despite assurances from company officials.
WWE’s Crown Jewel event has been relocated to The Venue at ANB Arena, according to Riyadh Season’s social media account. The move follows a previous announcement that the event would no longer take place at the Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD.
Ticket holders will receive full refunds, and tickets are set to go back on sale within 48 hours. WWE has not issued a public statement regarding the venue change.
The relocation has not alleviated concerns about the event’s safety, given the ongoing regional conflict and security threats in Saudi Arabia. U.S. travel warnings have been issued, and questions remain about the continuation of major sporting events in the region.
Several WWE performers have reportedly expressed concerns about attending the event due to the current situation. However, WWE officials have assured talent that safety measures will be a priority. Travel to the region is reportedly limited to performers and a streamlined production team.
WWE’s financial relationship with Saudi Arabia is significant, with its 10-year partnership generating approximately $55 million annually from PLEs in the region. The company plans to host WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia in 2027, which is expected to bring even greater financial returns.
Saudi PLEs have become standard in WWE talent contracts, with most newer deals no longer offering additional bonuses for participation. This indicates that the events are now integral to WWE’s international schedule rather than optional opportunities for extra income.
