China, Indonesia, and Malaysia dismantle major drug ring in joint operation.
The Brief
- Authorities from China, Indonesia, and Malaysia arrested 11 suspects in Indonesia.
- Operation dismantled a drug refining site in Banda Aceh on Oct 21.
- Chinese authorities initiated the investigation in October 2025.
Chinese, Indonesian, and Malaysian anti-drug authorities have collaborated to dismantle a major drug manufacturing and trafficking network, according to a government announcement.
The operation, which took place on October 21, involved the dismantling of a large-scale drug refining and production site in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, with support from Chinese and Malaysian law enforcement agencies.
The case was initiated by Chinese authorities in October 2025, when they uncovered evidence pointing to a criminal group engaged in international smuggling and trafficking of liquid drugs.
Chinese investigators determined that the group had repeatedly smuggled and trafficked liquid drugs into Indonesia over the course of the investigation.
In September, the China National Narcotics Control Commission shared information about the case with Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency, leading to a coordinated joint crackdown.
The operation is described as a major achievement in cross-border anti-drug law enforcement and a significant blow to drug-related crime in the region.
