  • A demerit point was added to each of their disciplinary records.
  • The incident occurred during the dismissal of Marques Ackerman in the second innings.

South Africa’s batting coach, Ashwell Prince, and player Kyle Verreynne were officially reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third Test against Australia.

The breach involved showing dissent at an umpire’s decision, specifically related to the dismissal of opener Marques Ackerman in South Africa’s second innings.

The incident occurred after Ackerman attempted to review the caught verdict, but the umpires ruled his appeal was not submitted within the 30-second limit.

As Ackerman walked toward the boundary line, Prince repeatedly shouted at the umpires, claiming there was still time for the appeal. Verreynne, who was not in the playing eleven, instructed Ackerman to remain inside the boundary line, causing a delay.

Both Prince and Verreynne admitted their offenses and accepted the sanctions proposed by Javagal Srinath of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

On-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Richard Kettleborough, third umpire Chris Gaffaney, and fourth umpire Lubabalo Gcuma charged them with the breach.
