Claire Chadwick, a 37-year-old British woman, died in Nigeria after developing sepsis following a stillbirth. She was 37 weeks pregnant when her unborn daughter passed in the womb, and she later passed from septic shock.
Her family has launched a fundraiser to repatriate her body to the UK for burial. The campaign has raised more than £10,000, which will be used for repatriation and funeral arrangements.
Shannon, Claire’s sister, said the family wants to return Claire and her unborn daughter to Britain so they can be laid to rest with dignity, surrounded by the family who love them. Claire leaves behind her 19-year-old son, who lives in Wales, along with her husband and wider family who loved her dearly.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman confirmed support for the family, while a Welsh charity, REST, provided additional assistance. Shannon said the community's support was 'overwhelming' and that the family appreciates every single donation.
