Orthodontist Transforms Office Into ‘Toy Story’ Halloween Experience

Dr. Scott Mateer, owner of Mateer Orthodontics in Commack, New York, turned his office into a full-scale ‘Toy Story’ set for Halloween week. The transformation included themed areas representing different movies in the franchise.

Patients entered what appeared to be Andy’s bedroom, complete with the same wallpaper, posters, and toys. The front desk was set up as Andy’s toy chest, and the waiting room was decorated to resemble the iconic room from the original film.

The office was divided into sections representing various ‘Toy Story’ locations, including Al’s Toy Barn, Sunnyside Daycare, and Pizza Planet. Each area was decorated with props, posters, and custom-made items to match the respective movie.

Dr. Mateer, dressed as Buzz Lightyear, treated patients in the dental chair while wearing a custom-made foam costume. The transformation required significant effort, including painting foam boards, creating a replica rug, and arranging tiny toys across the floor.

Staff members also dressed as characters from the franchise, including Woody, Jessie, and the Prospector. The office was closed for three days before Halloween to complete the setup, with staff spending much of their time planning and designing the transformation.

The themed experience was well-received by patients and parents, with many expressing surprise and enjoyment at the creative effort. The office’s social media feeds were flooded with photos and videos of the transformation, including a viral moment when Dr. Mateer recreated a famous ‘Toy Story’ scene while walking across a busy street.
