Nonprofit Sends Letter to Non-Citizen Encouraging U.S. Voting
Alleged voter outreach group sent letter to Australian, raising concerns about eligibility checks.
The Brief
- Australian received letter encouraging U.S. midterm vote, though not a citizen.
- Letter postmarked in Belgium and signed by former Democrat staffer.
- Organization linked to left-wing dark-money network.
A letter encouraging an Australian to vote in the 2026 U.S. midterm elections was sent to a non-citizen, according to a report by New York Post columnist Miranda Devine.
The letter, postmarked in Belgium, was reportedly sent by the Center for U.S. Voters Abroad (CUVA), a nonprofit organization that claims to assist American citizens overseas with voting procedures.
The letter was signed by Michael Peñuelas, the organization’s executive director, who previously worked for a Democrat state legislator and was involved in left-wing climate activism.
Devine’s post on X also noted that CUVA is associated with the left-leaning Arabella Advisors network, which is funded by George Soros’s Open Society Foundations and other progressive donors.
CUVA presents itself as a nonpartisan group that helps Americans overseas complete the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) and request absentee ballots, according to its website.
However, public records and reports from Influence Watch indicate that the organization was previously operated under the name of the Hopewell Fund, one of the core entities within the Arabella Advisors network.
