New Zealand lose Chapman, Ravindra for India ODIs
Injuries force New Zealand to adjust squad for ODI series against India.
The Brief
- Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra ruled out due to hamstring and shoulder injuries.
- Chapman needs two more weeks of rehab, Ravindra still struggles with shoulder.
- Tim Seifert, Henry Nicholls, and Dean Foxcroft added to cover absences.
New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Monday that Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra will miss the five-match ODI series against India due to ongoing injuries.
Chapman's MRI scan revealed his left hamstring requires additional rehabilitation, while Ravindra's right shoulder has not healed sufficiently for full participation.
The team has made several squad adjustments, including adding Tim Seifert for the entire series and including Henry Nicholls for the first three matches.
Dean Foxcroft has been named for the final two games, with Matt Fisher remaining as an additional bowling option throughout the series.
Matt Henry is expected to join the squad on Monday, after which his readiness to play will be assessed by team management.
Coach Rob Walter acknowledged the disappointment of losing Chapman and Ravindra but emphasized the need to avoid unnecessary risks with both players.
