The Brief
- Closure from November 7 to November 16 will replace 1930s-era signals with new CBTC system.

- MTA advises riders to check website, app, or text alerts for real-time updates.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced a planned closure on the A/C line for critical track and switch replacement work. This work is part of a larger effort to transition to the new Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system.
The closure will take place between Rockaway Blvd and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd, with free shuttle buses operating in place of train service from November 7 to early November 16. A trains that normally serve Lefferts Blvd will instead run to Howard Beach-JFK Airport during this period.
This closure is the first in a series of planned outages required to replace the existing 1930s-era signals. Additional weekend and overnight work is expected as part of the project.
Riders are encouraged to monitor the MTA website, download the MTA app, or sign up for text alerts to stay informed about service changes and updates related to their specific commutes.
