Jets Add WR Joe Manjack, Plan to Return S V.J. Payne
Jets sign undrafted free agent WR Joe Manjack to the practice squad and plan to activate injured safety V.J. Payne.
The Brief
- Jets signed 6-foot-3 WR Joe Manjack, a former Broncos UDFA, to the practice squad.
- Safety V.J. Payne, a 2026 seventh-round pick, is expected to return from injured reserve.
- Manjack had three receptions for 40 yards during the preseason.
The New York Jets have signed wide receiver Joe Manjack, a former undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos, to their practice squad. Manjack, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 210 pounds, joins a group of pass catchers already in training camp.
Manjack has not played in any regular-season game but had three receptions for 40 yards during the preseason. He played collegiately at USC, then Houston, then TCU, and entered the transfer portal for his final season.
The Jets are also planning to bring back safety V.J. Payne, who was placed on injured reserve just before the regular season began. Payne, a seventh-round pick in 2026, is expected to return to the active roster before his 21-day practice window expires.
Payne, a durable 42-game starter and team captain, has been praised for his coverage skills and versatility in coverage. He will remain on injured reserve if not activated before the window closes.
Manjack’s size and ability to play in the short and intermediate passing game make him a potential asset for the Jets. His performance in camp and preseason games will determine his chances of making the final roster.
