The Brief

  • Fadnavis, Thackeray, and Shelar attend book launch in Mumbai.
  • Thackeray jokes about Fadnavis staying as CM until 2029.
  • Fadnavis retorts by highlighting his political focus.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray, and Raj Thackeray appeared together at a book launch in Mumbai. The event, held at Dadar's Savarkar Smarak, featured the release of 'Maharashtrachya Hasyaresha,' a collection of Marathi political cartoons by Prashant Kulkarni.

Culture Minister Ashish Shelar commended Fadnavis for accepting an invitation from Raj Thackeray, urging political leaders to prioritize art and culture over political differences.

Raj Thackeray responded by joking that he would invite Fadnavis repeatedly, provided Shelar ensures Fadnavis remains as Chief Minister until 2029. His remark drew laughter from the audience.

Fadnavis then made a humorous remark about accepting invitations, including those from Uddhav Thackeray, though he noted Uddhav had not reached out since 2019. He also joked about leaders moving to the left, stating he chose to remain on the right for his speech.

Fadnavis concluded his remarks by joking that everyone should stick to their core talents, suggesting Raj Thackeray, as a gifted cartoonist, should focus on that, while he would handle politics.

The event, marked by the leaders' witty exchanges, became a memorable occasion for attendees.
