iPadOS 27 Adds New Widgets for Enhanced Functionality

iPadOS 27 enhances widget capabilities by introducing larger sizes for Today View, allowing users to better utilize the iPad's screen space. These updates expand widget functionality beyond basic tools like Weather or Calendar.

The Parcel widget enables users to track upcoming deliveries from multiple services, including UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL, and Amazon Logistics. It also includes a map widget for tracking package locations. Connecting an Amazon account automatically adds orders, while scanning shipping labels provides an alternative to typing tracking numbers.

Parcel's features extend beyond the iPad, with a native Mac app and web access for managing deliveries. The free version allows tracking of three deliveries, while a Premium subscription unlocks additional features like push notifications for $6.99 per year.

The Home app widget offers quick access to smart home controls, allowing users to toggle lights, lock garage doors, and manage accessories without opening the app. Users can customize which accessories and scenes appear on the widget, making it easier to access frequently used functions.

The Weather widget stands out with its 3D, game-inspired design and interactive visuals, providing details like temperature, UV index, and severe weather alerts. It sources data from Apple, AccuWeather, and the National Weather Service. A $14.99/year subscription unlocks advanced features like air quality and pollen data.

The Find My widget tracks Apple devices, AirTags, and trusted people directly on the Home Screen, showing their last known locations without opening the app. It also supports locating devices offline via the Find My network and includes a feature to notify users if they leave a device behind.
