India wins both singles titles at Hylo Open
Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu secure India's double victory at the Super 500 tournament.
The Brief
- Lakshya Sen ends year-long title drought with Hylo Open win.
- PV Sindhu claims women's singles title, completing her double.
- India secures both singles trophies at the USD 500,000 event.
Indian badminton players Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu won the men's and women's singles titles at the Hylo Open 2026 in Saarbrücken, Germany. Sen defeated Indonesia's Jonatan Christie in the men's final, while Sindhu beat Denmark's Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt in the women's final.
Sen's victory ended a year-long wait for a BWF World Tour title, following his defeat at the Australian Open in November 2025. Sindhu's win marked her second title of the season after the Japan Open and added to her late-season momentum.
Sen's win was particularly significant after a disrupted season due to injuries and inconsistent form. He had reached the All England Championships final earlier this year but struggled to maintain his performance in subsequent tournaments.
In the men's final, Sen took an early lead against Christie, using sharp cross-court angles and aggressive play. Christie briefly took the lead but Sen regained control through solid defense and net play, eventually winning the match 21-17, 21-10.
Sindhu dominated her women's final against Kjærsfeldt, winning both games 21-12 and 21-14. Her victory earned her 9,200 ranking points, keeping her in contention for the BWF World Tour Finals. Both players' wins capped a successful campaign at the USD 500,000 event.
