The Brief

  • Caddie Banpot Bunpisansaree asked if he could take home the toilet prize if Thitikul won.
  • Thitikul admitted she would love to receive the prize herself.
  • Thitikul already owns a similar automatic toilet at home.

Jeeno Thitikul’s caddie, Banpot Bunpisansaree, asked if he could take home the tournament’s special toilet prize if she won the TOTO Japan Classic. The prize is an unusual addition to the $315,000 first-place payout.

Thitikul revealed the exchange during a pre-tournament press conference. She explained that her caddie inquired about the toilet, which is displayed near the putting green, and asked if he could take it home if she won.

Thitikul said she would love to receive the prize herself, noting it would provide both a tournament victory and a high-quality toilet. She also mentioned she already owns a similar automatic toilet at her home in Thailand.

Banpot, Thitikul’s longtime caddie, has been part of her career since before she turned professional. Their partnership has lasted nearly a decade, with Thitikul occasionally joking about getting tired of him during their time together.

The toilet prize is not a replacement for the tournament’s financial reward. The TOTO Japan Classic offers a total purse of $2.1 million, with the champion receiving $315,000. The toilet is an additional prize, not part of the main competition.

Thitikul, the world No. 2, is among the top contenders for the title. She faces strong competition from Japanese golfer Miyu Yamashita, who recently won the Maybank Championship. Thitikul has also praised the quality of Japanese golfers, particularly their short game skills.
