An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent struck a man with his vehicle during a pursuit in the Houston area on Saturday, according to authorities.
The incident occurred as ICE agents attempted to arrest Jose Mendoza-Cervantes, who had been ordered removed from the United States by a judge.
Surveillance footage obtained by the Harris county sheriff’s office shows the officer chasing Parra-Hernandez before striking him with the car.
Parra-Hernandez was hospitalized with a broken leg following the collision.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Mendoza-Cervantes had been arrested multiple times for driving under the influence and for unlawful possession of a firearm.
DHS did not provide details on the officer involved or whether a body-worn camera was used, despite ICE policy requiring such equipment.
