Giants Lose Three Key Players to Injuries in Week 5 Game
New York's Week 5 matchup against Washington was impacted by multiple injuries to key contributors.
The Brief
- Three Giants players exited the game with injuries during Week 5 against Washington.
- Jermaine Eluemunor suffered a calf injury, Colton Hood sustained a head hit, and Tyler Nubin took a head/neck hit.
- Chauncey Golston and Jason Pinock were also inactive due to prior injuries.
The New York Giants faced multiple injuries during their Week 5 game against the Washington Commanders. At the time of the injuries, the team was trailing Washington 27-13 at Northwest Stadium.
Starting right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor left the game with a calf injury in the third quarter. He was taken to the locker room for evaluation and listed as questionable to return.
Rookie cornerback Colton Hood suffered a head hit on a kickoff attempt, resulting in a visible bloody nose. He was taken to the locker room for concussion evaluation. Hood, who was drafted in the second round, had played in all four games and recorded seven tackles before the injury.
Safety Tyler Nubin left the field on his own after a head/neck hit with 13 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. He is questionable to return with a neck issue. The Giants were also without defensive lineman Chauncey Golston, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this weekend.
Golston suffered a neck injury in last week’s game against Arizona and had previously missed five consecutive games in 2025 due to a similar issue. It remains unclear as to whether the reason for his absences last year is the same issue bothering him this season. Safety Jason Pinock was also inactive after failing to clear concussion protocol in time for Week 5.
Despite the setbacks, several players were upgraded to full practice participants and were active for the game. Left tackle Andrew Thomas, tight ends Isaiah Likely and Chris Manhertz, and running back Cam Skattebo were all in the game.
