The Brief

  • FF14 Evercold launches in early access on Feb 19, 2027, with full release on Feb 23.
  • New Zephyr job, a ranged physical DPS using a crossbow and avian familiar, is introduced.
  • Evercold features five new Realmships, including Sessrymnir and Skiðblaðnir.

Final Fantasy 14 Director Naoki Yoshida announced the release date for Evercold during Fanfest Tokyo, confirming early access begins on February 19, 2027, with the full launch on February 23. The date is slightly later than the original January 2027 plan, and Yoshida apologized for the delay, stating the team is prioritizing quality over speed.

The extended Evercold trailer was shown, featuring Visna, a Miqo'te character, as a Zephyr. A new character named Lagertha, who is the first mate of Naglfar, the Realmship of Water, was also introduced. Baldr, the red-haired Roegadyn, was confirmed as the name for the new Bastion job.

The Zephyr is a ranged physical DPS job that uses a crossbow and a Nephele, an avian familiar. It begins at level 90 and uses only Evolved Mode, with no Reborn Mode. Yoshida explained that the Zephyr works in tandem with its familiar to perform coordinated attacks and provide party support, emphasizing its focus on evasion and precise positioning.

Evercold introduces five new Realmships, including Sessrymnir, the Realmship of Earth, which features overground fields and deep underground mines. Skiðblaðnir, the Realmship of Wind, incorporates wind technology and is home to the Köttr, a new race of dwarf-like cats. Yoshida noted that this region also houses engineers who build most of the Fourth's ships.

The expansion includes new level scaling systems, allowing players to access three zones in any order, with content scaling to match their level. A new Adventurer Activity screen was also introduced, with plans to allow customization of the room layout. Weekly missions replace daily tasks, and players can collect rewards from previous weeks if they miss them.
