The Brief

  • Agent Andrew Reyes arrested on false statements and deprivation of rights charges.
  • Reyes struck pedestrian while driving wrong way on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn.
  • Victim survived injuries, authorities confirmed.

Federal prosecutors allege FBI agent Andrew Reyes, 30, struck a pedestrian while driving the wrong way on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn. Reyes was reportedly traveling north on the southbound side of the street, having blown a red light.

According to the indictment, Reyes dragged the unconscious victim across the sidewalk and placed him on a nearby bench to conceal the crash. He then retrieved the victim’s bag from the street and placed it next to the man before driving away.

Reyes did not seek medical attention for the victim, notify authorities, or report the incident to the FBI. The victim survived his injuries, according to law enforcement sources.

Reyes was indicted on charges of making false statements and depriving the victim of his right to be free from a law enforcement officer’s deliberate indifference to his serious medical needs.

The indictment also alleges Reyes falsely claimed he had never hit someone while driving in his FBI car when questioned by federal agents on May 1. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella called the alleged conduct a 'shocking disregard for human life' and emphasized that no one is above the law.
