The Brief

  • British Airways operated Orlando flights using a slot typically reserved for New York.
  • The route added to its Heathrow-US network, reaching 26 destinations.
  • The service ran from July 21 to August 29, with three-weekly flights.

From July 21 to August 29, British Airways used a Boeing 777-200ER for nonstop flights between London Heathrow and Orlando International Airport. This route was operated using a slot usually reserved for flights to New York.

The inclusion of the Orlando route allowed British Airways to reach 26 destinations on its Heath, row-US network during the summer. The network's daily frequencies reached 47, a high number for the airline.

The five-week operating period overlapped perfectly with the British school summer holidays, making it an attractive option for leisure travelers. Flights departed Heathrow at 8:20 AM and arrived in Orlando at 12:55 PM local time.

British Airways also added more frequencies to other US destinations, including Miami and Las Vegas. The airline increased its service to San Diego and Austin to 14 flights per week.

British Airways has yet to announce whether it will expand either the Orlando or St. Louis routes in 2027. It remains to be seen whether these seasonal services will become year-round operations.

British Airways has also cut several routes from its Heathrow schedule, primarily in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. These cuts included services to cities like Bangkok, Algiers, and Kuwait.
