Bears Defeat Seahawks 34-17
Chicago's defense, led by Jeffery Simmons, shuts down Seattle's offense in dominant performance.
The Brief
- Chicago Bears beat Seattle Seahawks 34-17, third straight win.
- Jeffery Simmons' presence disrupted Seattle's offense, limiting QB Sam Darnold's effectiveness.
- Bears' offense led by Caleb Williams outperformed Seattle's pass defense.
Chicago Bears defeated Seattle Seahawks 34-17, marking their third consecutive win and fifth in their past six games. The victory came after the Bears acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in a trade last week.
Simmons' impact was immediate, as Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold completed less than 50% of his passes while Simmons was on the field. Darnold was perfect 5-of-5 with a touchdown when Simmons was off the field.
Caleb Williams led the Bears' offense with a 17-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, the longest of the season. He completed 70.6% of his passes for 247 yards, surpassing Seattle's pass defense mark.
The Seahawks struggled offensively, with their offense generating only 146 yards in 48 plays with Simmons on the field. They managed 106 yards and a touchdown in eight plays with Simmons off the field.
D'Andre Swift rushed for three touchdowns, boosting his league-leading total to 10. He became the first Bears player with 10 rushing touchdowns in a season since 1997.
Seattle's offensive struggles were compounded by injuries and a reshuffled offensive line, with quarterback Darnold sacked three times and forced into multiple turnovers. The Seahawks' defense, which had allowed the second-fewest points in the NFL, was overwhelmed by Chicago's attack.
