Apple introduces touch optimizations for MacBook Pro and macOS 27

Apple has introduced several touch optimizations for the new MacBook Pro and macOS 27 Golden Gate. These updates are designed to improve the user experience on the device's touch display.

Traffic light icons in the top left of an app window have been enlarged for easier tapping, making touch targets larger. This change is intended to make interactions more intuitive for users.

Users can now perform on-screen gestures such as three-finger swipes for mission control, switching spaces, pinching to zoom, and scrolling on web pages. Spotlight can also be accessed from the Dynamic Island, similar to how it works on iOS 27.

App developers will find the new iOS simulator on the MacBook Pro particularly useful, as it can now be fully navigated with touch, eliminating the need to replicate trackpad gestures.

Context menus in the menu bar have been adjusted to have larger items for touch interaction. Most optimized apps will also feature larger touch targets, even if the buttons do not visually appear bigger.

In addition to the new features, Apple has expanded touch optimizations in macOS 27, including pull to refresh in Safari and increased spacing between menu bar items for all Macs running the operating system. The company also mentioned that more touch enhancements are expected in future updates.
