The Brief

  • Allen rushed for 116 yards on 24 carries, the most by a Jets running back in a game since Breece Hall's 133 yards in Week 8 of last year.
  • He scored the game-winning touchdown on a third-and-9 play in the fourth quarter.
  • Allen's performance highlighted the Jets' potential two-back rushing attack.

Braelon Allen scored the game-winning touchdown for the Jets in their 17-12 victory over the Browns on Sunday. The play came on third-and-9 late in the fourth quarter, with the Jets trailing by two and at the Cleveland 22-yard line.

Allen, who missed most of last season, rushed for a career-high 116 yards on 24 carries, marking the most by a Jets running back in a game since Breece Hall's 133 yards in Week 8 of last year.

The Jets' win came after Allen broke through a wall of defenders on the final drive, shaking off one tackle and tearing toward the end zone for the touchdown. The score capped a career day for Allen, who had surpassed his previous rushing high of 59 yards set the prior week.

Allen's performance also included a first-down run on the Jets' opening drive and consecutive runs of 8 and 17 yards in the first quarter. His rushing success came despite a fumble recovered by the Jets and a dropped pass near the sideline.

Garrett Wilson noted that defenders began taking creative angles to avoid Allen, acting as if they were trying to catch him rather than tackle him. The Jets had seen this in practice, but the display on Sunday carried more weight.

Allen, who sustained a season-ending MCL injury in four games in 2025, said he was 'hype' about his touchdown run. He described the final play as 'the perfect day' to run the football, emphasizing his confidence in his ability to perform under pressure.
