Air India has obtained approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to establish a flying training academy at Belora Airport in Amravati, Maharashtra.
The academy will feature 31 single-engine and three twin-engine aircraft for pilot training, according to officials.
Spanning 10 acres, the facility will include digitally enabled classrooms, student housing, a digital operations center, and a dedicated maintenance unit, as stated by Air India.
The DGCA approval signifies a key milestone in Air India’s strategy to enhance aviation training capacity in India and address the sector’s growing demand for pilots.
The academy will work alongside Air India’s existing 600,000-square-foot training center in Gurugram, which the airline describes as the largest aviation training institution in South Asia.
Air India emphasized that the two facilities will bolster its investment in aviation talent and infrastructure, supporting a more self-reliant aviation ecosystem in the country.
