- City offers $9 million in wage and benefit increases.
The City of Portland Professional Workers Union, representing financial analysts, administrative staff, and other office workers, has announced plans for a strike next Monday.
The union claims negotiations have stalled over demands for improved pay, equitable wage increases, and job stability.
According to city figures, the city is offering the union approximately $9 million in wage and benefit increases above scheduled annual cost of living adjustments through December 2027.
The union has proposed around $19.8 million in new wages and benefits, though city officials say the union’s proposal is flawed and closer to the city’s final offer.
Annual salaries for union members range from $62,000 to $173,000, according to city data.
City spokesperson Alison Perkins stated the city remains committed to reaching a fair agreement that acknowledges employees’ contributions while addressing financial responsibilities to taxpayers.
