  • Watson suffered a chest injury during a 53-yard catch and was taken to a hospital for precautionary testing.
  • He returned to the field in the third quarter after being cleared by medical staff.
  • Watson described the hospital trip as 'tough' but expressed gratitude for fan support.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson suffered a chest injury during a 53-yard catch against the Carolina Panthers. After landing hard on the ground following the reception, he remained down and immediately received medical attention from the Packers' medical staff.

Watson was later transported to a local hospital for precautionary testing, though he exited the field under his own power and was seen walking on the sideline and shaking his head before heading to the locker room.

Despite being listed as 'questionable' to return for the game, Watson came back onto the field in the third quarter. He was shown running to the locker room and later running back onto the field, where fans cheered him.

In a postgame interview, Watson described the hospital trip as 'tough' and admitted he 'didn't want to go.' He said he was 'feeling good' and thanked fans for their support upon his return.

Doctors performed tests to rule out internal bleeding, which Watson said showed 'no internal bleeding. No anything that was raising suspicion.' He also mentioned he was spitting a little blood at first, prompting the tests.

Watson had six catches for 100 yards before the injury but also lost a fumble. His return allowed Matthew Golden to step up, who immediately saw an uptick in work after Watson left the field and eventually logged a 24-yard touchdown on Green Bay's final score of the first half.
