The Brief

  • Trump claims US and Venezuela hold nearly half the world's oil reserves.
  • He credits his administration for boosting domestic energy production.
  • Trump criticizes previous climate and energy policies.

US President Donald Trump announced Monday that the United States has become the world's largest supplier of oil and natural gas, surpassing Saudi Arabia and Russia combined, according to his administration's claims.

Speaking at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Trump stated that the United States, together with Venezuela, accounted for nearly half of the world's oil reserves, emphasizing his 'drill, baby, drill' policy.

The president attributed the increase in domestic production to his administration's energy policies, which he said focused on expanding oil and natural gas output by reducing regulations and increasing drilling.

Trump also criticized the previous administration's approach to energy and climate policies, claiming the current administration has secured a significant advantage in global energy supplies through access to Venezuelan and Greenland resources.

In addition to energy claims, Trump highlighted economic improvements, stating that personal incomes reached record highs, poverty rates hit a historical low, and employment levels reached an all-time peak.

He further touted his administration's achievements in border security and tax cuts, calling the current border the most secure in US history and the tax cuts the largest in the nation's history.
