The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has issued new travel advisories for 16 Middle Eastern countries, citing escalating regional tensions.

The updated guidance covers nations such as Turkey, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Kuwait, Palestine, Israel, Syria and Iran, with a warning about a 'deeply unpredictable situation' and a high 'risk of sudden escalation'.

The FCDO statement notes that since early 2026, Iran has stated its intention to target locations linked to the US and Israel, including organizations, businesses, and facilities.

British citizens currently in the Middle East or planning to visit are advised to prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.

UK nationals are urged to check the latest FCDO guidance, follow local authority instructions, and stay informed through news outlets, particularly regarding airport and airspace changes.

The FCDO also recommends avoiding the vicinity of security or military installations, reviewing departure plans, and ensuring travel documents remain valid.

Additional protective measures include staying indoors or finding the nearest safe building if advised to take shelter, and avoiding contact with drone or missile fragments.
