The Brief

  • Tyler Perry claims private texts with associates should remain confidential.
  • Perry argues disclosure would cause unnecessary embarrassment for associates.
  • Mario Rodriguez has not responded to the issue in his court filings.

Tyler Perry is contesting the release of private texts he turned over to Mario Rodriguez during their legal battle. According to court documents, Perry stated he provided the messages to Rodriguez as part of their dispute.

Perry claims the messages contain sensitive financial information and were intended to remain private. He asserts that the conversations with his associates were confidential and that Rodriguez has no right to disclose them.

Perry maintains that his associates have no involvement in the current case and that releasing their texts would cause unnecessary annoyance and embarrassment. Perry and his company denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case.

Mario Rodriguez, who sued Perry for $77 million over alleged sexual assault, has not responded to the issue of the texts in his own court filings. The lawsuit alleges Perry assaulted Rodriguez in 2018 and forced him to touch his penis during another encounter.

Perry and his company have denied all allegations of wrongdoing, stating Rodriguez continued to communicate with him after the incidents and only turned against him when financial support stopped. Perry previously fought Mario in court over whether he should answer questions about his sexuality during a deposition.
