Two Arrested in Child Abuse Video Case
NCCIA arrests suspects linked to child pornography network in Karachi.
The Brief
- Two suspects arrested for alleged involvement in child abuse video sharing.
- Mobile phones and graphic material seized during the operation.
- Victims in Pakistan and abroad identified through recovered material.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested two individuals for their alleged role in distributing and selling videos showing the sexual abuse of children during a targeted operation against a suspected child pornography network in Karachi.
During the operation, two mobile phones were seized, and investigations are ongoing into the activities of the arrested suspects, Jazil Hassan and Afreen Khan.
Material recovered from the suspects reportedly helped identify victims both in Pakistan and internationally. Investigators also found evidence of the use of videos and graphic content related to the sexual abuse of children.
NCCIA Karachi Additional Director Tariq Nawaz stated that some victims had become so distressed by persistent harassment that they had considered taking extreme measures. The suspects allegedly used private photos and videos to blackmail and harass women.
Nawaz urged citizens to avoid sharing private photographs or videos, warning that such material could be used for blackmail. He also advised young people working at call centres to steer clear of illegal activities.
He highlighted that fraudsters often impersonated courier company representatives to trick citizens into sharing verification codes for financial gain. Nawaz emphasized that those involved in sexual exploitation or causing financial harm would face consequences.
