Trump holds virtual rallies amid legal challenges
President Trump campaigns for Republicans as courts reject efforts to block ballots in California and other states.
The Brief
- Trump participated in at least four virtual rallies targeting voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
- Federal court rejected administration's bid to block California ballots.
- Missile defense systems deployed near Mar-a-Lago and Trump airport.
President Donald Trump participated in multiple virtual rallies Saturday, campaigning for Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections. The events took place from his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
A federal appeals court on Friday denied the administration’s request to have California set aside approximately 20,000 ballots linked to voters alleged to be noncitizens. California has disputed the list’s accuracy.
Missile defense systems have been deployed near Mar-a-Lago and at the recently renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport, according to the Secret Service, due to a heightened threat environment.
Early voting has surged in key battleground states, with more than 50 million Americans having already cast ballots, including both in-person and mail-in votes, surpassing the early voting turnout rate from the 2022 midterms.
Trump also posted over a dozen endorsements on Truth Social for Republican candidates, including a message supporting Pennsylvania’s state treasurer, Stacy Garrity, for governor.
Officials in Washington, D.C., and Virginia filed a lawsuit to block the construction of Trump’s proposed 250-foot triumphal arch, calling the project 'flagrantly unlawful.' The administration said it could break ground in less than a week.
