Police are searching for three suspects after a violent home invasion left a Toronto CEO and his family injured. The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday in the Bridle Path, a wealthy neighborhood known for its large mansions and security.
Derek Morton, CEO of the Mac Group, confirmed the attack in a statement, describing the family's trauma from being assaulted in their own home. The suspects entered through a rear door and confronted the family before firing multiple shots.
According to police, the suspects demanded valuables before attacking the family and fleeing in a car. They are believed to be men in their 20s, and their identities have not been released. The victims, listed as ages 75, 64, 28, and 26, were all injured, with the father and two daughters shot.
Authorities are working to recover bullet casings to help identify the suspects. Inspector Kristy Smith of the Toronto Police Service noted that the family was targeted likely due to their affluent lifestyle. Police have not confirmed if anything was taken from the home.
Mayor Olivia Chow expressed concern over the attack, calling the violence unacceptable. She stated the incident has shaken the neighborhood and many residents across Toronto. Home invasions in the city have been increasing, prompting some residents to upgrade their security measures.
