The Brief

  • Nelson compared the T1 to the HTC U24 Pro, finding identical internal components.
  • The phone’s American flag had only 11 stripes instead of the standard 13.
  • Nelson criticized Trump’s claims of American manufacturing and patriotism.

Zack Nelson, a YouTuber known for gadget reviews, tested the $499 T1 smartphone, revealing its design and components were nearly identical to a 2024 Taiwanese model.

The review, which has amassed 9 million views, showed the T1 and the HTC U24 Pro shared the same size, button placement, and internal structure, including the motherboard and battery.

Nelson pointed out the T1’s American flag featured only 11 stripes, instead of the 13 that represent the original 13 colonies, raising questions about its patriotic branding.

He also highlighted Section 8(i) of Title 4 of the U.S. Code, which prohibits using the American flag for advertising, noting the phone’s design appeared to violate this guideline.

Nelson criticized Trump’s claims of American manufacturing, stating that the phone’s similarities to foreign models were a 'slap in the face' to actual U.S. manufacturers.

The reviewer also referenced Trump’s legal troubles, including a 2024 conviction for 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, and questioned his track record on promises made during his presidency.
