Tetsuji Kawamura, CEO and President of Sharp Corp., visited the company’s operations in the Philippines as part of his regional tour. The visit included meetings with employees at the local factory and remote participants from various branches across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The visit began with a factory tour, during which Kawamura observed local operations and met employees on-site. The tour also served as a prelude to the day’s discussions, which aimed to connect leadership with employees across the company.

Following the tour, a town hall meeting was held, attended by 190 employees in person and 131 via Zoom. The hybrid format allowed employees from different regions to participate in the same event and engage with the CEO.

At the town hall, Kawamura outlined priorities for growth, including stronger communication, improved relationships with employees and customers, and a focus on decisive action and learning from mistakes. He also emphasized the importance of upholding Sharp’s values of sincerity and creativity.

Kawamura outlined five key leadership principles aimed at enhancing communication, accountability, and teamwork. These included practicing an open-door policy, communicating challenges promptly, and seeking support from headquarters when needed.

The visit concluded with a roundtable discussion involving 30 selected employees, where Kawamura reflected on his leadership philosophy and encouraged employees to build respectful relationships, pursue clear goals, and prepare for future responsibilities.

The event featured a Filipino fiesta theme, with food inspired by local celebrations, creating an informal setting for employees to connect with the CEO and share their perspectives in smaller groups.
