The Brief
- Shackleton AI raised $5 million in seed funding led by Battery Ventures, with participation from multiple venture capital firms.
- The company claims its platform manages more than $1 billion in construction project value.
- AI agents are designed to handle administrative tasks across construction projects.
Shackleton AI, a New York-based construction technology startup, has secured $5 million in seed funding led by Battery Ventures, with participation from multiple venture capital firms, including Brick & Mortar Ventures, Trust Ventures, Correlation Ventures, Motivate Partners, Thayer Investment Partners, Act One Ventures, Brainstorm Ventures, and Silence VC. The company aims to use AI agents to automate administrative tasks that slow down construction projects.
Shackleton launched its platform in June 2026 and claims it already manages more than $1 billion in construction project value across more than 15 U.S. states.
Shackleton’s platform is designed to centralize project information and assign repetitive tasks to AI agents. This includes drafting requests for information, following up on overdue submittals, monitoring budgets, and converting field notes into daily reports.
The company claims its AI agents can coordinate tasks across different project phases, with human review and approval built in. Shackleton was founded by contractors who previously ran a commercial general contracting business and encountered the inefficiencies they now aim to solve.
Shackleton’s co-founders reported that managing construction projects involved significant time spent on data entry and administrative tasks. They stated that using Shackleton’s platform has allowed some customers to complete projects up to 35% faster and as much as 18% under budget. These performance figures are company-reported and have not been independently verified.
Battery Ventures highlighted the lack of digitization in the construction industry and the potential of Shackleton’s agentic approach to transform project management. The new funding will support the development of additional AI workflows and customer expansion.
Shackleton faces competition from both established construction software providers and newer AI startups. The company’s challenge is to demonstrate that autonomous software can reliably handle complex construction workflows, particularly those involving budgets, deadlines, and contractual obligations.
