PTC India Net Profit Drops 15% YoY in Q2FY27
PTC India reports lower net profit despite revenue growth, citing rising finance costs.
The Brief
- Net profit fell 15% to ₹11,323 lakh from ₹13,382 lakh in the same period last year.
- Revenue from operations rose 7% to ₹56.92 billion.
- Finance costs nearly doubled, impacting profitability.
PTC India Limited reported a 15% year-on-year decline in standalone net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company recorded a net profit of ₹11,323 lakh, down from ₹13,382 lakh in the corresponding period last year, despite a 7% increase in total revenue from operations.
While revenue growth was supported by higher electricity sales volumes, profitability was affected by a significant surge in finance costs and a dip in other income compared to the previous quarter.
Standalone revenue from operations grew to ₹5,69,202 lakh (₹56.92 billion) in Q2FY27, up from ₹5,31,481 lakh (₹53.15 billion) in Q2FY26. Total income, including other operating revenue, reached ₹5,84,462 lakh. However, the bottom line contracted as expenses outpaced revenue growth.
Finance costs nearly doubled to ₹8,273 lakh from ₹4,334 lakh in the year-ago period, primarily due to surcharge expenses on late payments to suppliers. Profit before tax declined by 15.6% to ₹15,225 lakh, and net profit fell 15.4% to ₹11,323 lakh.
The board approved the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary to establish and operate a Mineral Exchange in India. The company plans to invest up to ₹65 crore in the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to enable delivery-based electronic trading of allowed minerals.
