Prabowo-era domestic investment hits Rp2 quadrillion
Domestic investment under Prabowo Subianto exceeds Jokowi's first two years by 5.3 times.
The Brief
- Domestic investment reached nearly Rp2 quadrillion during Prabowo’s first two years.
- This is 5.3 times the Rp379.4 trillion recorded under Jokowi’s first two years.
- Kadin chairman highlighted the role of domestic businesses in economic resilience.
Domestic investment in Indonesia reached nearly Rp2 quadrillion during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, according to data from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie presented the figure during a briefing by Prabowo for participants in the President’s Program for Future Indonesian Leaders (P3MDI) and delegates at Kadin’s National Leadership Meeting, held at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang, Bogor, on October 31.
Anindya noted that the increase in domestic investment reflects the strategic role of Indonesian businesses, including medium-sized enterprises, in enhancing the country’s economic resilience.
He urged businesses to focus on emerging industries such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and data centres, which require significant local components, rather than solely on established sectors.
Anindya emphasized the private sector’s potential to support economic growth, citing that 85% of Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) comes from the business sector, compared to 15% from the state budget.
The comparison with Jokowi’s first two years shows that domestic investment under Prabowo is approximately 5.3 times higher, with Jokowi’s period recording around Rp379.4 trillion.
Anindya also expressed confidence in Indonesia’s economic resilience, citing the IMF’s assessment of the country as a bright spot despite global economic shocks.
