Poland's interior ministry stated Sunday that Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz may have been the subject of assassination attempts.
A report about a potential assassination attempt on both officials was sent to the police by the State Protection Service (SOP), according to interior ministry spokeswoman Karolina Galecka.
The ministry instructed authorities to act on the information received regarding possible threats against the prime minister and deputy prime minister, who also serves as defense minister.
Police, SOP, and internal security agency members attended a meeting on Sunday to address the situation.
A spokesperson for the minister-coordinator of special services, Jacek Dobrzynski, confirmed the matter is being treated as a serious threat.
Dobrz, noted that Poland has faced increasing threats and menacing messages over time, with this case indicating a strong possibility that the threats could be carried out.
