Pilot flies daughter and classmates to Iceland on geography trip
A Suffolk school's Iceland trip began with a unique flight piloted by a parent.
The Brief
- Jet2 pilot Marnie Munns flew her daughter and 30 students from Framlingham College to Iceland.
- The flight was part of a five-day geography field trip to study natural features.
- Students received a VIP experience including a cockpit visit and cabin crew support.
Marn, a Jet2 pilot, piloted a flight from London Stansted to Keflavik Airport, carrying her daughter Lillian and 30 pupils from Framlingham College.
The three-hour journey marked the beginning of a five-day A-level geography field trip to Iceland.
Munns, who had originally planned to take the day off, adjusted her schedule with another captain and secured approval to operate the flight after learning about the group's travel plans.
The students were provided with a VIP Jet2 experience, including a visit to the cockpit and assistance from the airline’s cabin crew.
During their time in Iceland, the pupils will explore volcanoes, geysers, waterfalls, hot springs, and lava fields, with hopes of seeing the Northern Lights.
A Framlingham College spokesman praised the support from the parent community and thanked Marnie Munns and the Jet2 team for making the trip’s start memorable.
